Teacher Education Faculty Position

Position Summary: 

A full-time faculty position in the Keeran School of Education.

Required Education: 

The successful candidate must have a strong academic background preferably holding an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in education from a regionally accredited institution. Consideration will be given to those holding a master's degree in education from a regionally accredited institution and the willingness to earn a doctorate.

Previous Experience: 

The successful candidate must have a strong professional and personal commitment to the preparation of teachers. The candidate must have had at least three (3) years of contemporary professional experience in an accredited K-12 school setting. Due to current Keeran School of Education needs, the candidate should have experience in teaching English at the middle school/high school or university level or teaching science at the elementary/ middle school or the university level.

The candidate must value work in the school setting, with colleagues in the profession and with professional associations at the state, national, and international level.

Conditions of Employment: 
  1. Beginning the fall semester of 2012.
  2. Full-time faculty position on a 9-month contract.
  3. Salary Range: based on credentials and professional experience.

  5. The successful candidate must be an active member of a congregation in the Stone-Campbell Restoration tradition (e.g. Christian Church and/or Churches of Christ).
Duties & Responsibilities: 
  1. A full-time faculty member will assume a load of twelve hours per semester (25 hours of responsibility in each academic year). Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate courses in teacher education and participating in clinical/field experiences and student teacher visitations. The needs of the Keeran School of Education, as well as the expertise of the present faculty, will determine the exact duties assigned to the successful candidate.
  2. Serve on 2 institutional committees.
  3. Participation in school/unit and institutional faculty meetings.
  4. Serve as an advisor to teacher education majors.
  5. Continue professional development in discipline. The university supports professional development activities for full-time faculty.
  6. Be actively involved in student recruitment and retention efforts through participation in extra-curricular events.
  7. Be actively involved with students outside of the classroom in spiritual, as well as, academic and social activities.
  8. Maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations included in the KCU Faculty handbook and “The KCU Way.”.
