Course Objectives

Since history is the collective memory of society, we can gain insights about our present world by studying the past.  This course seeks to acquaint the student with the development of Ancient Rome.  Upon satisfactory completion of this course the student should be able to:

1.  gain an overview of the history of Ancient Rome from its beginning to its fall.

2.  understand how Ancient Rome has influenced western society.

3.  associate geographical locations with historical significance

4.  develop skills in analytical reading and writing
