Requirements

READING: Your are required to read the assigned material.  You should read the assignments PRIOR to class so you can participate in class discussions.

QUIZZES: Will cover lecture and reading material.  They will be a mixture of objective and perhaps some short answer questions. QUIZZES CANNOT BE MADE-UP!  However, your lowest quiz score for the quarter will be Dropped.

WEBSITE:go to www.vkrp.org and examine it and write a 1 ½ evaluation of  the site,  and what you learned from it and how it might be improved.

LYSISTRATA ESSAY:  This essay should examine the historical setting of the play, including geographical and historical references.  Be sure to consider the impact of the Peloponnesian War on Greek Society.  Also how does this play relate to gender relationship in Greek Culture.  This assignment is to be 2 to 3 pages typed following MLA guidelines, font 10-12 and double-spaced. You must have a good introduction and conclusion.

RESEARCH PAPER: Your major assignment is a research paper on an approved topic related either Ancient Greece (5-6 pages).  Your reading and class discussions will provide your many viable options.  All topics must be approved by the instructor. Your work on this paper will come in four stages.

1. Topic approval You must have your topic approved by the instructor.  Only one paper per student will be allowed, first come first served basis.
2. 1st Draft of Paper Due to be reviewed by a classmate
3. Final Paper

Your paper is to no less than 5 pages in length and no more than 6 page (excluding bibliography). Any pictures or graphs etc. should be attached as appendices and will not be counted for the 5 required pages of your paper. You are to follow standard MLA form and style. This assignment should be printed on white paper in 12 point type, ONE INCH MARGINS, and Double spaced (MLA FORMAT).  Be sure to write in complete sentences and use proper grammar and style. You must use at least 1 periodical article, 1 Internet resource, 2 standard reference works, and 2 books besides your textbooks.  Consult your instructor if you have any questions about sources. Remember no covers or title pages are to be used.  Staple your paper in the upper left corner.

MAKE-UP EXAMINATIONS--If you have a valid excuse for missing a mid-term exam, contact your instructor within ONE DAY of the exam date. If these procedures are not followed, the instructor willassume you do not have such an excuse and give you a "0" for that exam.

FINAL EXAMINATION– All students, including graduating seniors, must take the final
