Cost

$4200 which includes 7 hours of college credit -- 6 history or 3 history and 3 humanities, and one "general studies/cross cultural experience" hour

Day 1 Monday June 9

We are leaving Travel from Cleveland, TN to Atlanta, we will be leaving Atlanta (ATL) on Delta Airlines at 2:00pm; Arrive New York (JFK) 4:10 PM Delta 1998 Nonstop flight. We will depart New York (JFK) at 5:40 PM. Arrive Istanbul (IST) 10:35 AM +1 day Mon 9-Jun 9hr 55mn Delta 72 Nonstop flight.

ou need to be in Atlanta at the gate by noon at the lastest, and should arrive at the airport by 11AM at the latest to be safe.
We will be leaving from the Lee University Behavioral and Social Sciences parking lot (by the tennis courts) at 8 AM (come by 7:30!) in order to get to Atlanta on time.

Day 2 Tuesday June 10

 Arrival in Istanbul 10:35AM, meet coach for to the Washington hotel, check in and overnight at hotel for dinner, bed, & breakfast. This three star hotel is centrally located and rooms include private facilities and air conditioning.

Day 3 Wednesday June 11

ISTANBUL After open buffet breakfast having> the full day tour of the city including the visits of Blue Mosque -Byzantine Hippodrome - St.Sophia -Topkapi Palace and Grand Covered Bazaar .Dinner bed and breakfast included. Overnight at Washington hotel.

Day 4 Thursday June 12

ISTANBUL: The day at leisure. Visit to Instanbul archaeological museum (transport not provided.) Dinner and Overnight at the Washington hotel.

Day 5 Friday June 13

ISTANBUL - IZMIR (750 km.) After buffet breakfast early departure to Izmir through Canakkale. Arrival in Canakkale and visit ancient city of Troy. Continue drive to Izmir and visit en route ancient kingdom of Pergamum with Acropolis and Asklepion. Dinner and overnight at the Ismira Hotel in Izmir, breakfast included. This is a centrally located modern three star hotel with private facilities and air conditioning in all rooms. (This is a longer day traveling 750 km)

Day 6 Saturday June 14

Departure for a full day tour including visits of Ephesus archaeological museum, Ephesus Ancient City and The House Of Virgin Mary and The Basilica Of St. John.  Travel to Izmir and visit Izmir archaeological museum before dinner and overnight bed & breakfast at the Ismira hotel.

Day 7 Sunday June 15

Departure to Pamukkale and visit ancient cities of Aphrodisias and Laodicea en route and continue drive to Pamukkale. Arrival and visit Hierapolis ancient city with its amphitheatre. Dinner, bed and breakfast at the Lycus River Hotel. This four star hotel is situated on the edge of town, it offers wonderful leisure inculding a thermal pool, Turkish baths and a swimming pool.

Day 8 Monday June 16

Departure to Bursa and visit the hot springs of Pamukkale, Green Mosque of the Ottoman Empire, the Green Tomb and the Silk Market en route. Dinner, bed and breakfast at Hotel Thermal Akdogan. Central located this hotel has a thermal pool, Turkish baths and a healing therapy center, as well as a swimming pool.

Day 9 Tuesday June 17

Departure to Istanbul airport for 12:10 flight to Greece and transfer to the Arethusa Hotel for dinner, bed, and breakfast. This is a three star centrally located hotel.

Day 10 Wednesday June 18

After breakfast, a morning sightseeing tour of Athens including the Acropolis and Agora, an afternoon of leisure meeting back at the Arethusa Hotel for dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 11 Thursday June 19

Today we visit Delphi. Guided visit of Delphi's site and its museum. On the way back to Athens, short stop at the village of Arachova. The back to the Arethusa Hotel for dinner, bed, and breakfast.

Day 12 Friday June 20

Morning departure for Patras visiting en route ancient Corinth and the site of Mycenae where we have lunch included. Arrive to join the Patras to Bari overnight ferry where dinner and breakfast is provided on board. Accommodations on board are twin inside cabins.

Day 13 Saturday June 21

Arrive Bari 8:30AM and meet coach to travel to Paestum (13:30pm) to meet guide. Visit the ancient Greek amphitheater and temple in Paestum. Transfer to Sant’ Agata Sui due Golfe for dinner, bed, and breakfast.

Day 14 Sunday June 22

After breakfast departure for half day visit to Pompei excavations. After lunch on your own, departure for Naples. Afternoon city panoramic tour visit to Naples National Archaeological Museum before transfer to Rome for dinner, bed, and breakfast. Pompeii, Herculeaum. Overnight and dinner at hotel at the Hotel Idomus for dinner, bed, and breakfast. This is a three-star hotel centrally located.

Day 15 Monday June 23

Guided tour of St. Peters and Bascilica di san Pietro then visit the Vatican Museum and Vatican City and also the Sistine Chapel. Drive by the Coliseum and the Roman Forum (visit not included due to time) and visit the Catacombs before returning to Hotel Idomus for dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 16 Tuesday June 24

Visit Tivoli, Villa d’Este then the Roman Empire Villa Adriana, Ostia Antica excavations, time permitting a visit to the national museum of Rome before returning to Hotel Idomus for dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 17 Wednesday June 25

Transfer to Airport - no guide provided here - simply transfer coach. Fly Rome to Atlanta, Overland to Cleveland. We will return to Atlanta on Delta at 11:15 AM from Rome (FCO) arrive Atlanta 4pm on June 25, 2003.  After clearing customs and so forth, you should be able to meet family friends etc. in Atlanta by about 6 PM.  We will depart as soon as possible on a van back to Lee for those being met in Cleveland, and should arrive by 8:30 PM or so.
